Covid no longer constitutes a global health emergency. Therefore, you are unlikely to need a Covid test for air travel. Nevertheless, under certain circumstances, you might still wish test for your personal peace of mind.

Coronavirus Testing Facility at Palma Airport

The Coronavirus testing facility at Palma Airport is no longer in operation. Therefore, if you need a Covid test before you travel, you will need to arrange this elsewhere on the island before coming to the airport.

What Type of Covid Test Do I need?

The two main testing options are:

PCR test

A PCR test is highly sensitive and generally delivers acccurate results. However, this type of test can be expensive and you may have to wait around 24 hours to obtain the results and your certificate, if required.

Antigen test

This is also known as a lateral flow test. This type of test is not only cheaper than a PCR test but you will also get your results sooner (usually in less than one hour).

Will I have to pay for my Covid test in Mallorca?

Covid test generally need to be arranged privately, in which case you will have to pay for your test.

A free Covid-test at one of the public health centres can only be carried out if you are experiencing symptoms and have been referred by a doctor.

All of the main tourist resorts in Mallorca have Covid testing facilities in private clinics, health centres, and a range of medical and dental surgeries.

Covid-testing can also be arranged in a range of different hotels across the island.

How much does a Covid test cost in Mallorca?

Prices for testing in Mallorca are capped. You should be charged a maximum of 75 Euros for a PCR test and no more than 30 Euros for an antigen test. However, it is worth checking with the individual test provider. On occasions, there might be additional charges,e.g. for obtaining a faster test result or for an international travel certificate, etc.
