In early November 2024, significant improvements were introduced at Palma Airport, offering passengers a smoother and more efficient travel experience. These upgrades particularly benefit departing travellers by simplifying the check-in and security procedures.
The journey through the airport has become more convenient for departing passengers, with a new security checkpoint on level 2. This means that check-in and security are now on the same floor in the main terminal building, eliminating the previous need to move from the check-in area on level 2 to level 4 for security clearance. This adjustment makes the process faster and easier for passengers.
Security procedures have been significantly improved with the addition of state-of-the-art 3D hand luggage scanners. Passengers will no longer need to remove liquids or electronic devices, as this new technology speeds up the security screening and allows for a faster, stress-free experience.
Level 4 of the terminal is currently closed to passengers as it undergoes extensive construction. A new retail area is being created and is set to open in time for Easter next year, promising an exciting new shopping experience and a more enjoyable airport environment for travellers.
These updates are part of a larger modernisation initiative aimed at expanding the airport and optimising passenger flow. Planned improvements include further enhancements to streamline movement through the airport. The ongoing construction aims to transform Palma Airport into a more efficient and attractive hub for international travellers.
