Palma Airport Faces Ongoing Flight Delays Due to Severe Weather

Palma Airport is once again grappling with significant flight delays as a result of adverse weather conditions affecting the island of Mallorca. The island is currently under an orange alert due to intense rain and strong winds, which have severely impacted air travel.

Aemet, the State Meteorological Agency has issued warnings about the extreme weather, predicting rainfall levels that could reach as high as 50 litres per square metre, with some areas potentially experiencing up to 100 litres per square metre. In addition to the heavy rain, strong wind gusts are expected to range from 90 to 120 kilometres per hour, with the possibility of even stronger gusts in certain regions.

These challenging weather conditions have caused numerous flight delays at Palma Airport, on Tuesday, the 3rd September, and on Wednesday, the 4th of September 2024. Most delays have ranged from 30 minutes to 2 hours, although a few flights have been cancelled completely.

Passengers intending to travel through Palma Airport are advised to stay informed by checking with their airline for the latest updates on their flights.
