The majestic Palma Cathedral, also known as La Seu, with its imposing façade and soaring spires, is renowned for its architectural grandeur and rich history. It is one of Palma’s most famous tourist attractions – easily spotted from afar, stunning to look at from the outside and even more impressive when admired from the inside.
What many people don’t know is that it is possible to visit the cathedral’s rooftop terrace during the summer months. Those who climb the 140 steps of the spiral stone staircase are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the city of Palma de Mallorca and its surroundings.
Inspect the imposing bell tower and spires, the flying buttresses, gargoyles and rose windows up close. From this perspective, you can fully appreciate the intricate Gothic architecture and sculptural details.
The rooftop terrace provides a bird’s-eye view of the cathedral’s interior courtyard, known for its elegant Renaissance-style architecture and tranquil atmosphere.
The terrace offers an excellent vantage point from where to admire the charming cobblestone streets, historic buildings, and traditional architecture of Palma’s old town, including the narrow alleyways and picturesque squares.
Marvel at the Parc de la Mar from high above and gaze out over the azure waters of the Mediterranean Sea, which surrounds the island of Mallorca. On a clear day, the view extends far into the horizon, offering a sense of serenity and tranquillity.
Beyond the cityscape, you can also glimpse Palma’s bustling harbour, where sailboats, yachts, and cruise ships dock, adding to the vibrant maritime scene of the city.
This year, the roof terrace will open its doors to visitors after the winter break on Monday, the 6th of May 2024. Visits will be possible until the end of October.
Rooftop opening times are as follows:
Mon – Fri, 10.00 – 16.30
Saturdays 10.00 – 13.30
